Building a portfolio that ranks

Brands don't scroll portfolios like fans. They scan them like hiring managers. Here's how the discover ranking sees your page — and how to feed it.

When a brand filters Nyota Discover — category, location, follower band, availability — the results aren't random. Ranking weighs your Authority Score, your on-time delivery record, your completed campaigns, and how completely your profile proves what you claim. The good news: almost everything on that list is within your control this week.

Your first three tiles are your audition

Brands decide in seconds. Lead your portfolio with the work that matches the briefs you want: if you want skincare money, your first tile can't be a football skit. Order matters more than volume — nine strong pieces beat thirty mixed ones, because the brand is pattern-matching, not auditing.

Verify everything verifiable

A verified social handle is worth more than a claimed follower count, because brands have been burned by screenshots before. Connect every platform you perform on. Verified socials feed your Authority Score and unlock the 'verified' filter, which is where the serious budgets shop.

A rate card is a ranking signal

Profiles with published rate cards get briefed more — brands told us a missing rate card reads as 'negotiations will be painful.' Publish your floor by deliverable type. You can always override it for a specific brief; the card just starts the conversation at your number instead of theirs.

On-time is a superpower

Your on-time percentage is displayed on your profile because brands asked for exactly that number. Two campaigns delivered early will do more for your ranking than a viral post. If a deadline is going to slip, message in the thread before it does — the thread is witnessed, and proactive communication is visible in your record.

Keep the calendar honest

Availability is a filter. 'Available now' when you're booked out for a month wastes everyone's week and quietly costs you ranking when briefs bounce. Update it like you'd update your status — because to a brand, it is your status.

None of this is gaming the system. The ranking is just a mirror of what brands already wanted to know and couldn't ask politely: Are you real? Are you reliable? Can I see the work? Answer those three, in tiles and numbers, and the briefs follow.

Put it into practice — briefs, portfolios and payouts live on Nyota.
